Description |
Plump Level invented by C.D. Janssen of Torrington that registers the perpendicular of an object instantly and accurately. The device is long and made of wood, with one end rounded and the other straight. On the round end is a circular glass piece with a metal rim, inside of which the mechanism's string - the plumb line - is visible and tied to a metal spoke. Towards the straight edge are two rectangular glass pieces surrounded by a screwed-in metal frame. There appears to be some type of cork stopper or bob attached to the interior string. A patent date is stamped into the metal frame of the plumb level: Dec. 17, 1901. Adhered to the top face of the plumb level is an original label: "The concealed plumb and level, the best instrument for plumbing ever invented, manufactured and sold by C.D. JANSSEN, 211 E. Main St., Torrington, Ct. Patented Dec 17, 1901." |
