Description |
293a-b Pair of glass vases, translucent and frosted white in color. Painted on one side of the glass is a red and yellow bird surrounded by a wreath of white and red flowers and green leaves. The vases have a gold trim and a top rim with a fluted texture. The vases were purchased at Charles McNeil's Drugstore as a wedding gift in 1875. The vases also have original, rectangular paper tags glued to their base that evidence the purchase. The tag on 293a is torn and faded - the only word legible is "cost" and possibly ".50%". The tag glued to the bottom of vase 293b is in better condition: only the top right corner is torn. The words Cost, Price, and "From C. McNeil, Druggist. Wolcottville, Ct." are in black ink. The numbers after cost and price are written in pencil, possibly: "7c" and ".50%". |
